Founded by James in early 2019, Break the Chain emerges from his deeply personal journey battling drug addiction. The catalyst came when he tragically lost one of his closest friends to suicide. Determined to reclaim his life, James traveled the world in pursuit of healing and happiness. After facing the disappointment that traveling and new experiences would not solve his problems he stumbled upon yoga and meditation.
Through earnestly sharing his personal struggles a friend reported that they felt so inspired to quit drugs. Despite not using drugs at the time this was something James had not yet decided do. Feeling inspired by the impact his own story had on others and feeling an enormous amount of responsibility, in 2020 he made the decision that he would never use drugs or alcohol again.
Having lost double figure friends, as well as witnessing the ongoing struggles of friends and countless others grappling with addiction and mental health issues, James felt an urgent calling to help. Thus, Break the Chain was born, offering a muttifaceted approach to support and healing. Since Break the Chain's inception James has provided various services including a blog podcast, workshops, music concerts, meetings, and peer support. Break the Chain endeavours to foster a community of resilience and growth.
In 2021 James, furthered his commitment by studying a Bachelor's degree in Counselling. As a qualified counsellor and yoga practitioner he hopes that he can bring a holistic and refreshing perspective to the world of addiction and mental health.

Through Break the Chain, James aims to Illuminate the path to recovery and happiness empowering. individuals to break free from the chains of addiction and embrace a life of fulfilment and well-being. 

Of course Break the Chain would not be where it is today without the tremendous amount of support from friends and strangers who have contributed as guests, helped with social media and many other things.
